Stop Beating Yourself Up!

A lot of things influenced this entry and I wont bore you with all the details but instead just get right to it. So…Im that type of person who’ll make a mistake or do something I regret and then spend hours/days beating myself up about it, until i’ve started meditating daily since the new year…even during my meditating exercises id be beating myself up by thinking *I “allowed” myself to wonder off in thoughts instead of working on my breathing/ I’m just doing it wrong* rather than relaxing and letting everything happen by itself then slowly easing back into the breathing process. Ive learned that meditating isn’t a forced/rushed/anxiety filled exercise, and life shouldn’t be that way either. Sure we’ll mess up, probably everyday, or like myself have days where we feel alone/lonely/depressed…we cant necessarily control our emotions or thoughts but we can control how we react to it all…and if we allow it to control us. At times id be sad for a day and then be mad at myself for feeling sad, which doesn’t help. What I’ve come to realize is that I’m gonna have days where I feel that way and its not really a bad thing, I just need to not dwell on the sadness of my day…but do something about it, change my day around and move on from it. Pastor Clayton King once taught a sermon at Elevation Church titled “Move on”, and one of his quote/lesson I took from it was to “Fall fast then forget about it”. Life in itself is hard and its ten times harder if we’re always critical and hard on ourselves…remember you’re human, which means you’re not perfect and you will mess up, but by being alive you can always learn from your mistakes and move on. Be in control of your emotions and thoughts…allow yourself to feel them; let out a cry when needed but don’t allow them to control your daily way of life.

  1. Kristine says:

    Move on.
“Fall fast then forget about it.”
These words stood out to me as in them a more relaxed and a stress free life is imbedded. Also, if we carry Christ in our hearts He will ensure that “All things work together for those who love The Lord” (Romans 8:28).
    Thank you Kas!
